Your voice. Your vote. Our future.
From the 9th of September to the 11th of October, Aotearoa’s local elections are your chance to choose leaders who will fight for a climate-forward future. That means clean energy, thriving biodiversity, better public transport – all to protect the places we live and play.
Why local elections matter
Local councils make decisions that impact climate action closest to home: our communities. From urban planning and transport, to green spaces and climate resilience – your vote can help shift the course toward a more sustainable future.
Strava Challenge
To help get you fired up and moving these local elections, we’re running a Stoke the Vote strava challenge with some epic The North Face prizes to be won!
Simply follow the steps below and you’ll be in on the action (in more ways than one!)…
1. Get informed
Research the candidates in your area…
Who’s standing up for climate action? Who’s backing clean energy, biodiversity, public transport, and resilient communities?
We’ve put together a list of resources to help you do just that, including survey responses from a number of candidates across the south island on climate related topics. Find all these details here.
2. Get moving
Bike, run, or walk your way to the polls from 9 September to 11 October and log your journey on Strava (and also vote!).
Get creative with your route, go multi-sport, or bring the crew for extra chances to win!
3. Share your action
Post your activity into our POW Aotearoa Strava Club to be added to the pool to win some epic prizes thanks to our mates at The North Face.
Extra entry if you vote with friends (activity is logged as a group of 3+ people) and spot prize for best route effort (voting day selfies encouraged)!
Voting is one of the easiest ways to show what’s important to us and choose leaders who reflect the changes we want to see. So as the outdoor community let’s show up, speak out, and vote for a future that protects the places we play.
Let’s Stoke the Vote.
