Anna Keeling is an IFMGA guide from Christchurch, New Zealand. Home is now Kura Tawhiti/Castle Hill Village (NZ) and Salt Lake City, Utah. Mother of one and owner/operator of Anna Keeling Guiding (AKG), she trains and examines mountain and ski guides for both the New Zealand Mountain Guide Association (NZMGA) and the American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA). As well as mountain and ski guiding, Anna is a freelance outdoor writer and was the ski columnist for the Christchurch Press 2011-14. With a focus on culture change and advocacy, she recently stepped down after 10 years on the NZMGA committee. Projects included a NZMGA manual, a stint as Training Officer, assisting with direction and advocacy for the NZMGA and creating the NZMGA Code of Ethics and Conduct. Her parents told her that the cost of democracy is vigilance. POWNZ is a logical next step as Anna has directly experienced how community action can effect change in busy mountain regions such as Utah’s Wasatch Range. She’s thrilled to join team POWNZ.
